Entry Terms & Conditions

• The entrants must be full-bred Dachshunds. Please bring proof of breed on race day (registration papers, veterinarian’s declaration, breed listed on shot records, etc.). If the breed status of your dog is contested during check-in on 19th April 2025, and you do not have proof of breed, your dog will not be permitted to race and your entry fee will not be refunded. 
• All Sausage Dogs must be registered and accompanied by 1 adult who is 18 years of age or older, and one additional handler (12 or older). 
• All qualified dog owners must sign a disclaimer of waive of claims before the race (at check-in). No sausage dog can entered the race without signing the disclaimer. 
• Entrant and Entry must meet all Race Conditions. Entry and/or Entrant not meeting the Conditions will be disqualified and prize(s) will be forfeited. 
• An Entrant may only register their sausage dog once during the race period.

• Registration is limited to first 40 dogs registered and paid.
• The race will occur on the racetrack at Riverina Paceway on 19th April 2025. (The Sausage Dog Race schedule will be announced on 16th April 2025. Live horse racing on 19th April 2025 is generally begins around 5.30 p.m. subject to Sky Racing scheduling. Sausage Dog check-in begins at 16:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse entrance. All registered dogs must check-in no later than 5:00 pm. The three qualifying heats will be contested consecutively. The top three (3) finishers from each heat will advance to the  Jacinta Bodel Homes / Southwest Stockfeeds Dachshund Dash Final.
• Riverina Paceway is not responsible for any injury caused to the entrant’s dog or to themselves during their time at Riverina Paceway. 
• Owners may bring one (1) toy for the dog. No lasers. 
• No food (human or dog food) or other pets are allowed in immediate race area. Bones are allowed. 
• All dogs must be on a leash and will be asked to leave (without refund) if unruly. 
• Owners are required to clean up their dog’s feces. 
• Only two handlers (one who is 18 years of age or older) in the race area per dog: one at start (releaser) and one at finish line (catcher). 
• No dogs that are not involved in the race are permitted on site. 
• Sausage Dogs must have 2 handlers: One must be 18+ and the other must be 12+. One handler is the “releaser” (releases the dog at the start line). The other handler is the “catcher” (catches the dog at the finish line). Neither of the handlers may cross over into the race area after the race has begun. 
• The releaser must keep the dog’s front feet behind the starting line, and all 4 feet must be on the ground at the start of the race. Dogs cannot be push started over the starting line. If these rules are not adhered to, the dog will be disqualified. 
• The catcher must keep their body behind the second line (the line furthest from the start.) Their arms may be extended, but they cannot touch the dog until the dog has crossed the first line (the line closest to the start). The catcher may have one (1) toy or object to attract the dog, but the object may not cross over into the race area. No laser lights. No food. Bones are allowed. If these rules are not adhered to, the dog will be disqualified. 
• Sausage Dogs do not have to stay in their own lanes. 
• Sausage Dogs must reach the finish line themselves and not be pushed or pulled across. 
• In all cases, the decisions of the officials and management of Riverina Paceway are final.
